Some larger and heavier weapons are two-handed, which means Frank can't keep the weapon in his inventory if he cycles to another weapon (for example, televisions, potted plants, cardboard boxes, Shopping cart), while others weapons are small enough that Frank can hold it in his inventory while brandishing another item (for example, handguns, all food, lead pipe). Frank starts with only 4 inventory spots, but raising levels with Prestige Points can raise the maximum number of items Frank can hold.[2]
Survivors and weapon longevity[]
When given to a survivor, weapons that are about run out of ammo or break (as indicated by their flashing icon in the item slot) will not do so. This is a good way to lengthen the life of a strong weapon, such as a katana or small chainsaw.[3]
Throughout the mall. Often found in trash cans, in Cardboard Boxes, under some trees in Leisure Park. Found in all sporting goods stores. Lying next to the steel rack on the Rooftop.
Zombie have distinctly different levels of endurance (how much damage a zombie can take before it is killed). Once the endurance of zombies is known, weapons can be tested to see how strong the weapon is. The strength range table below categorizes weapon strength, for example:
the Lead Pipe kills a thin man zombie and fat man zombie with one hit.
the Hunting Knife kills a thin man with one hit, but kills the fat man only with two hits, therefore it is weaker than the lead pipe, and falls between the thin man and fat man range, or "1 hit to kill thin man", a 5 on the scale.
Weapon strength is based upon Frank at level one during the daytime. See Zombie endurance for the differences between the time of day and Frank's level.
Note: Eventually this table will be integrated into all weapons pages and the table above. This table is sortable, click the squares with the triangles inside.
Hitting objects has no effect on the endurance of weapons. Frank can theoretically hit an object endlessly and the weapon will never break.
One guide states that weapon damage can be tested on the Servbot Head in Paradise Plaza's Child's Play. The rotation is an excellent indicator of damage dealt. The Real Mega Buster and Laser Sword rotate the Servbot Head almost exactly 1.5 times, the most of any weapon. A Toy Laser Sword makes the head move fewer than five degrees.[11]
Official guide list of weapons[]
See also Cabbage, explaining the guides confusing organization further.
The Official guide lists 141 weapons, which include:
the Mannequin, (both male and female separately) as 12 weapons, with the right and left arm and legs each as an individual weapon.
↑Cultists will either die with one hit, or stay alive just long enough commit suicide by blowing themselves up. This was observed with both the paradise plaza orange potted plant and the Bench.
